Hot Chocolate Mix

I was so thankful this morning that someone kept this mix on hand. With school canceled cause of snow, I hung out with my brother, made snowflakes to hang in our window, lit candles, listened to Christmas music, and drank this hot chocolate at 6am. This is a delicious and easy mix that we make quite often. I love stirring in a York Peppermint patty with a bit of coffee. Marshmallows can be added to the mix.

2 cups dry milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup non-dairy creamer
1 dash salt

1 tablespoon flavored coffee creamer per cup

Combine ingredients and mix well.  Store in an airtight container.

To make 1 cup: mix 4 tablespoons of mix with 6 ounces hot water. Add 1 tablespoon flavored coffee creamer.

To make 30 cups: mix 7 1/2 cups of  mix with 22 1/2 cups hot water. Add 2 cups flavored coffee creamer.

Our pretty simple smoothie recipe. I personally love tossing in a handful of spinach and making as thick as ice cream. 🙂

3/4 cup yogurt
1 banana
1/2 cup dry milk powder
1 cup frozen strawberries
other frozen fruit (peaches, pineapple etc) if desired

milk to thin if needed
Sugar or Stevia to taste

Mix all ingredients in blender.  Blend.

Orange Refresher

This has always been a favorite. It’s especially refreshing during the summer!

1 can (6 oz) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup dry milk powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup cold water
10 – 12 ice cubes
orange slices and mint, optional

Combine the first five ingredients in a blender and process at high speed.  Add ice cubes, a few at a time, blending until slushy.
Garnish with orange slices and mint if desired.  Serve immediately.
